Millmerran CFPP(Australia)

DL Energy, together with KDB Infrastructure Asset Management Co., LTD, purchased a 35% stake in Australia’s Millmerran Power Station in 2013. As a result, it became the second-largest shareholder of the plant and turned Millmerran into its first overseas power generation asset.

Starting its operation in 2003, Millmerran Power Station, which comprises two units of 425.5MW worth an installed capacity of 851MW, is a supercritical coal-fired electricity generation plant located in Queensland, Australia. As one of the lowest cost CFPP in Queensland, Millmerran is responsible for baseload generation. With the stable management of InterGen, a leading global power generation management company, the Millmerran plant has been recognized as a stable generator of electricity over the last decade while improving a capacity factor.

Millmerran Power Station is selling all of its electricity to the National Electricity Market that can provide enough electricity to approximately 1.1 million homes. As a type of mine mouth power plant (MMPP), Millmerran Power Station has been taking advantage of the affordable and steady flow of fuel supply available from the nearby Commodore Mine via conveyor belt. In addition to that, being in the more favorable conditions, such as operating nearby LNG terminal and increasing demand for electricity, the future of Millmerran Power Station looks very promising.

DL Energy is in process of gaining a solid foothold in coal-fired electricity generation business through its investments in Australia’s Millmerran Power Plant while continuing to seeking further business opportunities in the field.

※ A supercritical steam generator is a type of boiler that operates at supercritical pressure, frequently used in the production of electric power. In contrast to a subcritical boiler, this operates at pressures above the critical pressure - 3,200 psi or 22 MPa -using slightly less fuel producing less greenhouse gas.
